This course taught students how to analyze the nature of human language and included an introduction to speech sounds, morphology, syntax. and semantics. There was a heavy emphasis that was placed on the social and pedagogical implications of modern linguistic theory, which included examining issues such as language acquisition, dialect, variation, historical linguistics, and English as a Second Language.
